Maori Name: Haature/ Hauture | Scientific Name: Trachurus novaezelandiae
Known as Yellowtail. Swim in big schools throughout New Zealand in particular off the north-eastern coast. Mostly found in mid-water or near the bottom close to shore and out to 300m. In 3 years they grow to 25cm and can live up to 28 years.
