Mediterranean Fanworm

Scientific NameSabella spallanzanii
This unwanted pest has become established in Waitemata Harbour, inner Hauraki Gulf in Auckland, Tutukaka, Whangarei, Coromandel, Tauranga, Gisborne, Nelson harbours, Picton and Lyttelton Port.
Has  a single spiral crown of elongated filaments projects from tube. Spiral appears yellow-orange, made of bands of white, yellow and brown.
