Scientific Name: Oncorhynchus tshawytscha
Also known as Quinnat Salmon and largest of the freshwater sportfish.
Found mainly in the South Island's east coast rivers, from North Canterbury to South Otago.
Smaller quantities are found in West Coast rivers. Between December and April,
anglers wait the return of sea salmon entering the river mouths.
You will need to carry a valid NZ sport fishing licence.
